It's been ages since I posted a site, but this one is just a bit silly. What I really need is for the petrol station companies to produce POI files so I can put them in my GPS. Shell and Mobil, are you listening? Maybe even the YHA should get on the bandwagon.

USA by EAV
I have been enjoying U-Tube a fair bit recently as much of my music is obscure and I can find a little over half of it on the internet. This one is not from a CD I own, but I have three of their CDs.

Nazis Screwed Up The Swastika For Everyone
I have been watching, quite impressed for a while, the articles that are appearing in Wired Magazine. Generally they have been improving at a great rate. Quite gutsy stuff. Particularly in relation to the shenanigans of the bush administration. For some reason this particular topic has been surfacing again in conversations here in Sydney and Melbourne, so I though I would add this little link here:
The Swastika: an equilateral cross, arms bent at right angles. For a couple thousand years before Hitler, it was used largely as a symbol of luck. And then the Nazis came along, dealing a blow to the swaztika from which the PR department of Swaztika Incorporated might never recover.

Patern Langauge
It is not often that I just pick up a computer programming book, leaf through a few pages and think, this is the best thing I have ever seen. Well the book on patterns in programming languages was one of them. What was even more surprising is that it was inspired by a book on architecture. In fact the I purchased the book on architecture (as far as I know, the first one). It is inspirational. Then today, on a Yahoo group about life styles, I also find a link back to the book's new website. Wow.
People liked our book very much. We were surprised though, when we found out computer programmers liked it, because it was about building not programming. But the programmers said, "this is great, it helps think about patterns in programming and how to write reusable code that we can call upon when we need it."
